Price watch
We keep checking your fare until final payment.
Cruise fares move after you book. Before your final payment date, a lower fare can often still be claimed, but only if someone notices. When you book with Portamora, that's our job.
Bookings with Portamora open soon. Already booked with the cruise line? We'll compare what you paid with today's fare for your cabin type, free. Get a free price check.
How often we check
More often when prices tend to move
The first 3 weeks after you book
Every week
A new sale often starts soon after people book.
The middle months
Every 2 weeks
Fares move with demand, so we keep an eye on it.
Big sales: wave season (January to March) and Black Friday to Cyber Monday
Once at the start
These are when prices drop most often.
The last 6 weeks before final payment
Every week
Unsold cabins are often repriced as this date nears.
The last 4 days before final payment
One final check
After final payment, a lower price usually can't be claimed.
A real person checks your fare on the booking tools travel advisors use, for your exact sailing, cabin type and number of guests, so it's a like-for-like comparison. We don't promise a lower price; we promise to look, and to act when it helps you.
When we check
What happens next
A lower fare for your cabin type
We ask the cruise line to move your booking to the lower fare, where your fare rules allow. Some lines refund the difference; others give it as onboard credit.
Better perks instead
Sometimes the price stays the same but a sale adds onboard credit, a drinks or Wi-Fi package, or a lower deposit. We tell you what changed and whether it's worth switching.
Nothing better
No news is fine news. You can see when we last checked in your trip plan.
Good to know
- What's final payment?
- The date the rest of your cruise fare is due, usually 60 to 120 days before you sail, depending on the line and the length of the trip. Until then, most bookings can still be changed or repriced.
- Does it cost anything?
- No. Portamora is free to use. When you book, we earn a commission from the cruise line, which doesn't change your price. Commissions play no part in our matching: the engine can't see them.
- Can I watch the price myself?
- Yes: check the same sailing, cabin type and number of guests on the schedule above, and call the cruise line (or your travel advisor) if it drops.
